Description
Summary:This article focuses on the presence of the seventeenth-century short novel in the catalogues that Pedro Joseph Alonso y Padilla handed out in his bookshop. Different versions of the catalogues that the bookseller compiled from 1720 to 1740 have been analyzed as well as the titles that he actually edited. The criteria for the selection of titles are difficult to guess, yet it is quite revealing that he drew particular attention to such prominent writers as Cervantes, Zayas, Carvajal, Castillo Solórzano or Salas Barbadillo.
