Descripción
Sumario:This article focuses on the strategies to control prostitution and the conflicts that regulatory policy generated among neighbours, authorities and prostitutes, with the aim of contributing to the field of research on sexuality and urban history in Logroño, a city in which aspects such as the regulation of prostitution and the expulsion of brothels from the city center have hardly been treated. From the study of municipal regulations —among other primary sources of municipal archives— and newspaper sources, the true scope of the regulatory system will be analysed, as well as the tensions that this activity generated among the neighbours. The sources show two models of city, on the one hand, the modern space coveted by the bourgeoisie, in which marginal groups had no place, and on the other hand, the degraded neighbourhoods in which, despite the complaints of the neighbours, the sex trade was located, a topic analysed through digital cartography from the plans of Luis Barrón and Gabriel Vizmanos./n
