Descripción
Sumario:The extreme tropical environment where the still half-buried ruins of the ancient Mayan civilisation, noted for the monumentality of their architecture and their refined artistic features, are to be found, accounts for the precariousness of their conservation and the difficulty which we researchers, dedicated to studying and evaluating this rich archaeological heritage, are now faced. Since 2004 a team from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the University of Valencia and the San Carlos University of Guatemala have joined forces so as to undertake, from an interdisciplinary and inter-institutional approach, an archaeological intervention on the ruins of La Blanca, in Petén, Guatemala, which is the purpose of this study.
