Sumario:The main processes affecting the retardation and mobility of U and other trace elements In the El Berrocal environment are presented and discussed. Particular emphasis is put in recent low temperature events that indicate the linkage between trace element and major component (Fe, HC03-) cycles. The results from kinetic and thermodynamic modelling calculations indicate that the initially mobilised U(IV) from the uraninites is effectively retained by interactions with Fe (III) -oxihydroxides
