Resumo:This thesis is an investigation that the main objective is to study proximity digital media in Catalonia. The theoretical framework establishes the foundations on which stands the sector: proximity communication and digital journalism (or cyberjournalism). The phenomenon of proximity digital media in Catalonia is analysed through the study of a paradigmatic case, which is the Group Nació Digital (GND). It was chosen for this research because it is considered a success model for the expansion of recent years, audience figures reached and a solvent business model. It has been studied the journalism and business model with a special attention to their territorial editions. Mainly it is used qualitative methodology that includes case of study and in-depth and semi-structured interviews to the management team of the Group and the responsibles for proximity digital media. Moreover a quantitative technique, content analysis, is also used to extend the study. The main conclusion is that the key to success has been the model of proximity information, which allowed the expansion and growth of the audience, and the technology, which is in constant innovation and has an own management system.
