Descripción
Sumario:This work is an application of the DEA methodology (Data Envelopment Analysis) to the study of the efficiency of Secondary Educational Institutions in Murcia. It consists of a non-parametric optimization technique which carries out its evaluations and inferences directly from the observed data. As W.W. Cooper states (1999), certain areas such as Health and mainly Education (source of inspiration for the work of Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes (1978) which gave rise to DEA), have defied the other existing methods. In this work, we calculated the ratio of relative efficiency in the seventeen Secondary Educational Institutions in the municipality of Murcia, which entered students for the University Access tests in the academic year 98-99, by detecting the reasons for the inefficiency and pointing out how their resources and their results should be different in order to become completely efficient. Finally, a global analysys of the results and one of sensibilyty are accomplished.
