| Sumario: | [ANGLÈS] Building codes have been developed attempting to predict how an earthquake can affect nearby settlements in order to minimize human and material losses. Characterizing the settlement vulnerabilities facing a strong motion, regional and local geological setting play a major role in these codes and an appropriate assessment of them could determine the success or failure of the forecast. Since correctly estimating the fundamental period of the soil is very important for these analyses, many scientists have been studying different techniques to calculate it properly. The spectral ratio technique, also known as "Nakamura’s technique" by the author’s name who proposed it (1989), is a technique based on microtremors analysis that has become popular because is a quick and inexpensive way to measure predominant period of the ground. Based on this technique, the soil response on rapid lateral lithology changes is measured and analyzed. |
