| Sumario: | The current situation of social and economic instability affecting our society has revealed the existence of large pockets of people living in conditions of disadvantage or social exclusion. Social policies have responded to specific situations, but have not articulated a strong social fabric capable of effectively integrating the excluded or preventing these processes. This article presents the model of pedagogical intervention known as community education, which focuses on two key objectives: improving people’s quality of life and subjective sense of well-being, especially for those in a situation of social exclusion; and promoting social cohesion. These goals are made operational through increased participation, the empowerment of individuals and communities, co-responsibility and social awareness. |
