Description
Summary:The Pliocene sequence of the Cadiz coast between Chiclana and Conil is described. Three sedimentary units, separated by unconformities, can be distinguished. The two lower units are Lower Pliocene in age, according to micropaleontological data and regional correlations. The third unit, characterized by bioclastic and terrigenous sediments with abundant rhodoliths, is considered to be Upper Pliocene in age. These three units can also be recognized in the Bahia de Cadiz, which implies a change in stratigraphy up to now proposed for the area
