| Sumario: | [EN] In this article we offer a theoretical proposal to analyse the barriers affecting the activities and participation of people with disabilities in social environments, based on the concept of social appropriation. Our approach to this concept involves two phases of evaluation by the communities or groups of users in these environments. The purpose of these evaluations is to reveal the existence of potential barriers. When they exist, these barriers can affect the activities done by the community in the environment as well as the mediator elements that support the performance of such activities. Throughout the paper we will consider the conditions leading to the concept of social appropriation and the indicators that allow it to be expressed quantitatively. We will also study the relationship between social appropriation and the forms of community and user innovation that result from paying attention to eliminating barriers in these social environments. Additionally, we will provide some examples of cases showing the potential for practical application of the proposed analysis on barriers. |
