Descripción
Sumario:This paper aims to describe and analyze the presence of nineteenth-century women writers (born between 1800 and 1870) in the Histories of Spanish Literature in order to make female writing visible and contribute to the knowledge of children's literature in its origins. First, it contextualizes the conditions of children's literature at the end of the 19th century in terms of its production, transmission, and reception. Second, it analyzes the available manuals on the History of Spanish Children's Literature and extracts findings related to the list of women writers and their selected works. These data allow us to draw conclusions about the presence, appreciation, and contribution of 19th-century women writers at the time and the recognition they received later in the histories of literature for future research.
