| Sumario: | Introduction: Currently, various studies have been conducted that reveal the potential of the psychological construct of emotional intelligence on physical and mental health, social func-tioning, cognitive ability, and, ultimately, the individual's quality of life, constituting a signifi-cant source of individual and group well-being. Objective: The aim of this study was to validate and adapt the Brief Emotional Intelligence In-ventory for Senior Citizens (EQ-i-M20) for use with military personnel in the Spanish Army and verify the relationship between emotional intelligence and resilience.Method: The sample consisted of 739 military personnel from the Spanish Army (officers, non-commissioned officers, and professional soldiers and sailors), with an average age of 33.29 years (SD= 7.48). The instruments used were the EQ-i-M20 and the resilience scale called the Resilience Scale. Results: The results of the confirmatory factor analysis revealed adequate fit indices for the new proposed model with three factors and 15 items. Emotional intelligence is positively related to resilience.Discussion: The new scale, called the Brief Emotional Intelligence Inventory for Military Person-nel(EQ-i-JG15), is presented as an appropriate psychometric instrument for measuring emo-tional intelligence. By increasing the level of emotional intelligence, the resilience of Army per-sonnel in their specific context could also be improved. Conclusions: Ultimately, its implementation would allow for the evaluation of emotional intel-ligence levels and, if necessary, enable interventions that improve the quality of life of the mem-bers of the Spanish Army.
