Resumo:In this paper we present two poetic manuscripts related to Jovellanos and recently located in the Fermín Canella collection of the Tolivar Alas Archive (“Ramón Pérez de Ayala” Public Library, Oviedo). These are two copies of the late 19th/early 20th century owned by the scholar Fermín Canella, both of great relevance. The first one is a lost copy – but of which there was indirect information – of Jovellanos’s Satire III, relevant because it allows us to conclude without a shadow of a doubt that several errors have been introduced in the text until now considered good and edited in the Complete Works of Jovellanos prepared by José Miguel Caso González. The second one gives as a work by Jovellanos a poem never before attributed to him. However, an examination of the text, its textual tradition, and the circumstances of its composition allows us to discard Jovellanos’s authorship. In sum, we establish how Jovellanos’s Satire III should be edited from now on and discard the composition “[Six virtues alone are...]” from his corpus.
