It has become a significant source of daily inspiration and motivation for many people. Influencers on the platform are a type of celebrity with an immense impact on their viewers. This study underlines the triangular relationship between Instagram influencer practices, audiences, and male body image. Representations of lean and muscular male bodies on Instagram create an idealized image of masculinity and the male body. The physique represented by male influencers sets a standard for the public, whose internalization of this idealized body type manifests as a drive for body enhancement.
