Cervantes was undoubtedly an expert in the art of 'romanticizing' and his technique seems to push the boundaries of genres and contaminate El Quijote and Las novelas ejemplares with elements of drama, theater 'not shown' with features of narrative. The aim of this paper is to offer some reflections on certain hybridity between the form of the drama and the novel, verified in Cervantes' plays, especially in his Ocho comedias y ocho entremeses nuevos nunca representados (1615), in order to identify potential interference of the constituent elements of the novel and the short story in Cervantes' works.
