However, by September 2022 Batophora was present in almost 100% of the lagoon perimeter. In October 2022 the alga was found to be spreading to the deepest areas of the lagoon, being found in 93% of the prospected points. It colonized all the habitats present in the lagoon: from sandy habitats to Caulerpa prolifera (Forsskal) Lamouroux beds, rocky bottoms and Cymodocea nodosa (Ucria) Ascherson, Zostera noltii Hornemann and Ruppia cirrhosa (Petagna) Grande meadows. By November 2023 Batophora spread outside the lagoon, always close to the entrance, colonizing sandy habitats, shallow rocky habitats and even margins of Posidonia oceanica (Linnaus) Delile meadows. Batophora was also found at the channel connecting another lagoon (Estany Pudent) with the open sea. The invasion of Batophora threatens the lagoon habitats of the Freus d'Eivissa i Formentera MPA and we recommend a close monitoring of its spread. We also suggest some kind of management to avoid the spreading of the alga from Estany des Peix to La Savina harbour and to other sheltered areas from Formentera and Eivissa[cat] nem a conèixer l'expansió durant tres anys d’una espècie del gènere Batophora J. Agardh a l’Estany des Peix i àrees adjacents (Formentera, illes Balears). L’alga fou detectada per primera vegada durant el mes de maig de l’any 2020 i va créixer espectacularment a l’Estany, estan present en un 18% del seu perímetre al novembre de 2020, presència que es va mantenir l'any 2021. Això no obstant, Batophora era present al 100% del perímetre de l'Estany durant el setembre de 2022. A l’octubre d'aquest any l'alga fou trobada fins a la zona més profunda de l'Estany, estan present al 93% dels llocs prospectats. Colonitzava tots els hàbitats de l'Estany, des dels hàbitats sorrencs i rocosos als alguers dominats per l'alga Caulerpa prolifera (Forsskal) Lamouroux i les fanerògames marines Cymodocea nodosa (Ucria) Ascherson, Zostera noltii Hornemann i Ruppia cirrhosa (Petagna) Grande. Al novembre de 2023 Batophora va colonitzar la part exterior de l'Estany, sempre vora l'entrada, ocupant els hàbitats sorrencs, rocosos i els marges de l'alguer de Posidonia oceanica (Linnaeus) Delile. També es va localitzar al canal d'entrada de l'Estany Pudent. La invasió de Batophora posa en risc els hàbitats de llacunes de la Reserva Marina dels Freus d'Eivissa i Formentera, i recomanem l'estudi de la seva evolució.
