| Sumario: | This article presents the problem that motivated the creation of the national system of quality assurance in Chilean higher education, which came to life in the legislation 20.129. The identified problem refers to the deregulation of the higher education system produced in the 1990s, characterized by its massification as well as the processes of institutional autonomy and an uncontrolled expansion. This is followed by a discussion of the public policy, describing the institutions that carry out this system (the National Accreditation Commission, the National Council of Education, and the Information Service of Higher Education) and the processes that they execute (licensing, accreditation and public information). |
