Descripción
Sumario:This study aims to learn a little more about the secular clergy in the bishopric of Puebla during the government of Juan de Palafox y Mendoza. After reviewing the objectives of the Council of Trent for the reform of the secular clergy and their implementation in New Spain by the third Mexican provincial council, we will review the academic and spiritual formation of the clergy, as well as his economic support. The main source for this research is the pastoral visit made by the bishop of Puebla, as well as other of his writings related to the government of the diocese and those addressed to his priests.
