| Sumario: | [EN] The focus of the contribution here exposed is the summary of studies and recent research on environment and landscape archaeology in the area between the sites of Montagnana and Este, located south-west of Padua and the Euganean Hills. Since Bronze Age and until Roman era this strip of plain was crossed by the ancient course river Adige/Athesis, which followed a very different route from the current direction, as remarked by the presence of sandy sediment and of bank reinforcements and also by trachyte embankments; this interpretation, suggested by the stratigraphic evidence, is confirmed by archaeological finds both from major sites and smaller settlements or other contexts in the valley. |
