| Summary: | The thesis An integrated approach of the right to food and food security in the framework of sustainable development proposes a model based uponthe methodological framework of sustainable development for the implementation of the right to food at the national level. Within a global context marked by climate change and declining natural resources, this framework offers a setof tools aimed at achieving a more sustainable implementation of the right to food and at reaching the Sustainable Development Goal nº 2 “end hunger, achieve food security and improvednutrition and promote sustainable agriculture”by 2030. Thisframework provides aseriesof principles of international law, such as the principle of integration, the principle of sustainable use of natural resources and the principle of intergenerationalequity, among others, which complement the theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of the right to food; an integrated approach for the elaboration ofpublicpoliciesoriented to achieve food security and to mitigate the environmental problemsrelatedto food production and distribution; and a collection of hermeneutical resourcesthat can assistjudgesin the task of weighingand evaluating the economic, social and environmental aspects of sustainable development, for a more integrated interpretation of this right. These tools can enrich the implementation of the right to food, placing it in a wider framework that duly reflects the close relations between food and the environment. |
