| Sumario: | [EN] In spite of the little amount of Jews in Galicia and the scarce documents that have been kept as a consequence, it can be noticeable that the Jewish population had suffered the same changes and stereotypes than the rest of the Castilian kingdom. Such stereotypes have been present since the 14th century, which almost coincided with the first documents kept about the Jewish presence in Galicia . One of the main accusations was the fact of being owners of huge fortunes when, actually, there is some evidence that show that Galician Jews were mainly humble and poor craftsmen, as it is shown by the council debtors lists. [ES] A pesar de la escasa población judía en Galicia y, derivado de ella, la escasa documentación conservada, se observa como la población judía sufrió los mismos estereotipos que el resto de los judíos del reino de Castilla. Estereotipos que se manifiestan desde el siglo XIV, coincidiendo casi con los primeros documentos conservados sobre la presencia judía en territorio gallego. Una de las principales acusaciones fue ser poseedores de grandes fortunas cuando la realidad es que son varios los indicadores que muestran la situación de pobreza de los judíos gallegos, dedicados fundamentalmente a humildes trabajos artesanos e incluso sumidos en la pobreza, tal y como muestran las listas de deudores del concejo. |
