Descripción
Sumario:This study provides an analysis of Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda’s poetry, establishing the formal parameters and themes by means of which the author inscribed her feminine voice throughout her literary career. It will define the specificities of each literary context — the Cuban and the Spanish — paying particular attention to gender issues and exploring the reasons for Gómez de Avellaneda´s pre-eminence among her contemporaries. The article engages with the feminist projections of her poetry, showing how it became a weapon that subverts patriarchal discourse from within, developing a chameleon-like style and fashioning an aesthetically different (feminine) identity.
