Descrição
Resumo:[EN] This paper aims to establish a dialogue between dance practice and historical research around bolero legacies in contemporary creation. Based on a historiographical revision, it analyses the strategies which lead to the codification of a dance genre associated to national identity, through gender, ethnic and class perspectives. A selection of case studies since the 18th century illustrates the presence of dance in the construction of Spanish imaginaries, the coexistence of legacies in the body archive, and the evolution toward the concept of “school”. Finally, the recent inclusion of the bolero repertoire to flamenco tablaos will be studied in order to present some of the key arguments from which the contemporary creation dialogues with the past.
