The films of Carla Subirana, Neus Ballús, Eva Vila, Carla Simón, and Elena Trapé allow us to raise a series of questions related to the hybridity of filmic genres, the porosity between fiction and non-fiction, the growing presence of women, the return to or the connection with the land, the dichotomy between youth and old age, motherhood, the direct or indirect presence of the autobiographical self, and the use of Catalan as the normative language of communication in most films.
