Sumario:The following thesis presents a proposal for the introduction of young adult’s literature into the first foreign language class (English). Throughout this dissertation, a theoretical framework is provided, in which the different definitions of literature and the various benefits that literature can bring to second language learning are presented. Also, the approaches that can be applied and the use of literature in language learning and more specifically, the role of young adult’s literature in the English classroom are explained. In addition, a didactic proposal based on Roald Dahl’s short stories is presented; it is applicable to 3rd of ESO throughout the implementation of some activities during the academic year and, to finish, the realization of a final project. The aim of this dissertation is to demonstrate that it is possible to introduce literature in the foreign language classroom and that students can become interested in literature while learning the language.
