The second part contains an analysis of the most important phases of the conflict between the ahl al-ra'y and the ahl al-hadïth with two examples: the first related to a much discussed ritual practice founded in the Prphetic Tradition (raf ' al-yadayn fi l-salat), and the second, to the abandonment of a Qur'anic institution (al-hakaman).
