Propiedades psicométricas de la escala índice de bienestar personal (PWI-SC) en adolescentes chilenos

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the psychometric properties of the PWI-SC (Tomyn and Cummins 2011), in its 7 and 9-item versions in Chilean adolescents. METHOD: The PWI-SC was applied to 4.964 high school students in three main urban centers of Chile. Reliability, item scale correlation, exploratory factorial...

Descripción
Sumario:OBJECTIVE: To analyze the psychometric properties of the PWI-SC (Tomyn and Cummins 2011), in its 7 and 9-item versions in Chilean adolescents. METHOD: The PWI-SC was applied to 4.964 high school students in three main urban centers of Chile. Reliability, item scale correlation, exploratory factorial analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factorial analysis (CFA) were performed. FINDINGS: Results show reliability for both scales, PWI-7 and PWI-9 (α =0.80 and 0.83). EFA shows a one-factor solution. There is an adequate item-scale correlation. CFA exhibits an adjustment in line with data from a unifactorial model in both scales. Finally, overall-scale scores correlate satisfactorily with single item Overall Life Satisfaction measure. CONCLUSION: Both scales are reliable and valid instruments for this population
