Descripción
Sumario:[EN] Although Niemeyer is recognized as a celebrated and well-studied architect, passages of his professional career are yet to be explored. Without doubt, one of them is the relationship that the architect had with the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985), an admittedly right-wing government. If, on the one hand, it is true that Niemeyer was a convinced and declared communist, it is also certain that he continued to work for the military throughout the 21 years of dictatorship that was established in Brazilian territory - even making projects that would be a symbol of Brazilian military institutions. This article seeks to delve into the architect's life and his relationship with this repressive political period in Brazil, presenting projects and situations that happened in Europe and within Brazilian territory. It gathers material disseminated in archives and elaborates a documented chronology to clarify events and debates.
