| Sumario: | The aim of this article is to carry out a first approach of Gelia and Flaminio by Manuel de Faria e Sousa in order to analyze the relationship between its chronotopes and the authors national claims. To do so, we will first trace the treatment of topographical ekphrasis in the epilios of the 17th century. Next, we will examine the evolution of Farias epyllia. Thirdly, we will compare the variants between the two preserved versions: the first one published in Divinas y humanas flores 1624 and the second one collected in the Fuente de Aganipe 1644. In this way, and finally, we will be able to analyze how Portugueseness emerges in Gelia and Flaminio. |
