| Sumario: | Laharic facies into base surge deposits of Barranco Varondillo Campo de Calatrava, (Spain). The Barranco Varondillo maar was generated by at least two powerful phreatomagmatic eruptions. These eruptions have favoured the formation of deposits of wet surges. The presence of abundant water within them has favoured the presence of channels and the accumulation of fine sediment in intermediate and basal layers, as well as a huge accumulation of quartzite blocks on the upper layers of deposit. We have seen at certain places, in the northern flank of the Cerro Gordo pyroclastic cone, a formation of a lahar deposit about four meters thick, showing a short sweep. |
