Sumario:The Energy Sector in Spain has been under considerable revamping over the last couple decades. Renewable Energy sources have been rapidly deployed, representing today more than half of the deployed capacity in the territory. There are a few challenges inherently related with de- pendency on renenwables. For one, their intermittent and unpredictable nature means that production is not constant nor guaranteed, which means other backup alternatives must be planned for. Battery storage systems coupled to PV plants are a proven solution to improve the the return on investment of a PV plant and help improve the operation of the electricity grid. Through the formulation of an techno-economic model computing energy and cash flows, this project aimed to prove that residential ESS had the potential to increase grid independence while improving the payback and rate of return of a "Self-Consumption" system. The experimentation and analysis performed and described on this thesis report was divided into case studies. These case studies were differentiated by their increase in complexity through the introduction and variation of performance impacting factors. Through these case studies, conclusive observations on how these factors improve a plant’s business case are presented. An interpretation of the results obtained and projected next steps conclude the report.
