The analysis shows that structure can be as important a component as agency and that students' representations of the SA context are linked to their pre-SA plurilingual experience and the portrayal of their plurilingual identity.Aquest treball s'aproxima a les estades acadèmiques a l'estranger (EAE) com a context per al desenvolupament de la identitat plurilingüe en resposta a la crítica a la recerca sobre identitat en lingüística aplicada, la qual apunta a un biaix que emfatitza l'agència de l'usuari i ignora l'impacte dels elements estructurals. L'estudi es basa en l'anàlisi de les referències que fa l'estudiantat en les seves narracions a les limitacions i possibilitats que suposa el context per al desenvolupament de la identitat plurilingüe.
