Descripción
Sumario:[eng] The article reviews the challenges of using oxidative stress biomarkers in clinical practice. It explains that relying on a single antioxidant or pro‑oxidant marker is insufficient and may lead to misinterpretation. Instead, a comprehensive approach is needed, combining indicators of biomolecular damage, antioxidant enzyme activity, low‑molecular‑weight antioxidants, and total antioxidant capacity. Although oxidative stress plays a key role in many chronic diseases, clinical diagnostic systems and professional training remain limited. The author emphasizes the necessity of developing a reliable set of biomarkers to properly assess redox balance and improve patient management.
