Descripción
Sumario:[EN] This review presents an insight on the advances in the Sol–gel route for preparation of glasses and glass-ceramics, considering the physical and chemical aspects governing the process. An overview of the most important developments and applications including Sol–gel coatings, appearing as the main technique used in optical as well as protective or photocatalytic applications. Biomaterials prepared by Sol–gel are also highlighted.
