Sumario:Study conducted about the epidemiology of sepsis and septic shock through a prospective multicenter study (II GRECIA epidemiological study) carried out in several spanish intensive care units. Demographic, clinical and outcome variables were recorded, as well as adherence to the management recommendations of the international guidelines proposed by the Surviving Sepsis Campaign, relating the degree of compliance to the main mortality outcomes. An analysis of biomarkers is also carried out in blood samples from a cohort of septic patients included in the multicenter GENSEP study, also conducted in spanish intensive care units, to predict the development of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and risk of mortality. Various predictive models built with several determinations of biomarkers panels combined with clinical variables and severity scores were obtained, with good discriminative capacity .
