Descripción
Sumario:[EN] This article studies the possible relations between the Christian asceticism in Syria and the Mesopotamic cultural background in the area. After a brief surnrnary of the historical and social context and of the linguistica1 and cultural background in northeast Syria, the author studies the influence of Ancient Mesopotamia in the Christian Syria, concentrating specially in the effects of this relationship in the Evangelical Blessings. This article concludes with a collection of the similarities between the Christian ideal and the ancient Mesopotamic ideals and reaches the conclusion that there is at least an indirect influence of some of the elements, of some views and a few literary forms, although it is true that these are coated with new moral and religious meanings.
