Sumario:Health is a complex process determined by the interrelationship of biological, psychological, social and environmental factors. Since the end of the 20th century several studies have shown that men and women have different ways of falling ill and of metabolizing pharmaceuticals which showsthat sex/gender isa determinantin the health-disease processresulting indifferencesand inequalitiesin health andcareon account ofsex /gender. In the United Nations Millenium Declaration, in the Treaty on European Union and Charter ofFundamental Rights of theEuropeanUnion it has been recognizedthe importance of the rightto equalityof menand women and the right of everyone to live without suffering discrimination in any sphere of life, including access to health care. This thesis analyzes the institutional machinery developed by the Catalan Health System to facilitate and ensure attention with a gender perspective, understanding that this perspective is part of a comprehensive care to people.
