Sumario:[EN] Abstract. The river Turia leaves an indelible mark on the city of Valencia and it is deeply joined to the city's image. The river has been a deciding factor not only on the spatial shape of the city but on its historical passing of time and this is reflected in the riverbed deep transformation, moving from being a natural space to a big urban garden. Nowadays it still continues reshaping today's Valencia's image. This is a process in which the Sculpture is involved as a unique contribution. The present research work, named The public sculpture in the renovation process of the Turia's old riverbed in Valencia, 1973-2014 has as its principal task the study of the sculptural action plan, adopted in the course of the old riverbed landscaping, as well as the interventions' management, taking into account their environment and their historical development. The study includes the history and layout of the old Turia's river course from its earliest days until today in order to understand its transformation into an urban space. The study will also help us to contextualize the situation in which sculptural actions are taking part along its 10 KM length (of 10 Km). The research work's main purpose is to inventory the old riverbed's sculptures because so far neither a complete cataloguing nor a document base of this space are found. This is why we first consider the works field's identification, as well as the compilation of all type of information on their assignment, execution, management and maintenance and furthermore the relationship between the sculptures and their environment. An exhaustive analysis of the information collected and contextualized with its historical happening will allow us to build a story of every sculpture which is part of the old riverbed's story so, in this way, we will be able to evaluate the situation of the sculpture today in this specific place and it will help us to introduce a reflection about the future sense of the public sculpture in urban areas, particularly in the city of Valencia.
