Sumario:This research aims to explore the historic relations between the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the State of Kuwait from 1961-1990. The key importance of establishing relationships with both blocs of the world post-cold war period is crucial of the sovereignty of the Kuwait which is key to its new foreign policy…The State of Kuwait was the first country in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to establish relations with the People’s Republic of China and both had an informal relation since Kuwait became independent in 1961. The main questions of this research are: Did the foreign policies of both countries contribute to the development of this relationship? Did other countries play a role in this relationship such Iraq and Taiwan? Did oil play a major role in this relationship, and what other factors played a role and how? And finally, what was the role of China regarding the invasion of Kuwait?
