Sumario:To convey messages appropriately, we use typography. The expressiveness of the type design is an im- portant factor in choosing a typeface. In the context of higher design education, it has been observed that one of the initial difficulties faced by first year students is the confident selection of appropriate typefaces to use in their projects. Based on this observation, the research question arose: how do these students perceive the expression of typography? The study began with a theoretical framework that allowed the selection of five typefaces and semantic scales, which were then validated by a panel of experts. The model of eight dichotomous axes was used in the questionnaire surveys applied to the students.
