Sumario:Synodality has found its proper place in the ecclesial language, although it contains terminological and conceptual ambiguities. This article attempts to clarify these ambiguities by showing synodality’s roots, dynamism, and levels of realization. From the original ecclesial self-consciousness, the communion with God –experienced and celebrated mainly in Baptism and the Eucharist– turns out to be the foundation of a «we» that is expressed and articulated in three levels: in a local church, in the communion among churches, and in the universal Church. In all these levels, the communion with God harmonizes the prominence of all, of some, and of one (the <i>prótos</i>).
