| Resumo: | On the Foz do Medal Alluvial Terrace, including its left and right banks, an impressive collection of Paleo lithic portable art was discovered, ranging a total of 1511 fragments. A total of 83% of the fragments dates back to the Magdalenian period. However, the biggest collection of plaques from the Solutrean period in Portugal was also exhumed, along with probably the largest collection of plaques in the Iberian Peninsula dating back to the Gravettian period. The Foz do Medal Alluvial Terrace is one of the most important sites of mobile art on an international level. Therefore, its study is of the utmost importance. This article intends to briefly describe the Paleolithic sequence of the decorated plaques on the Foz do Medal Alluvial Ter race, by focusing primarily on its Gravettian and Solutrean moments. |
