| Sumario: | The chapter analyzes the evolution of Spain's tourist image from the beginning of the Civil War to the early stages of the second third of the 20th century. The research focuses on examining the Franco regime's efforts to transform Spain into a tourist destination following the loss of tourist flows experienced during the war years. It explores the tourism promotion and propaganda measures implemented by the Directorate General of Tourism and the Ministry of Information and Tourism. Additionally, it studies the foundations of Spain's tourism takeoff in the late 1940s and, most notably, from 1959 onwards, when the groundwork was laid for the subsequent tourism boom and the massive development of mass tourism that Spain experienced in the following years. |
