Descrição
Resumo:In the history of the reception of Giacomo Leopardi's works, his Canti stand out. At the end ofthe 19th century, we already had severa! Catalan versions that the Mallorcan writer, J.LI. Estelrich, collected it in his Antología de poetas líricos italianos (Palma de Mallorca, 1889). But it was after the Great War that translations of Leopardi 's poems began to abound in Catalan. Many writers of Catalan Noucentisme, whether from Barcelona or the Balearic literary circles, were interested in his work, and there are numerous translations ofhis poems that appeared in the second and third decades of the 20th century in journals such as La Revista, La Nau, La Nova Revista, etc., or even in general newspapers such as La Veu de Catalunya, and La Veu de Mallorca. In this paper we will deal with the translations by the Catalan poet and translator J. Mª Garganta, which were published in 1928 in La Nova Revista. We will analyze his versions of these e anti by Leopardi, as well as the image ofthis author that was disseminated in those years from this journal, in conjunction with other articles and opinions about the Italian writer that were published at the same time in Spain.
