Sumario:[EN] It is an irreputable fact that the ecclesiastical economy suffered a hard hit du ring the reign of Carlos IV. The faud in the collection of tithes, each time more evident and up to a certain point consented by the civil authority, the high dona tions that the Monarchy demanded from the clergy under the rule of the Papal bulls and the first seizures of land from the Church, created a profound discom fort in the ecclesiastical hierarchy (visible signs in Toledo and Sevilla, the two dioceses ruled by the Cardenal Borbon, the king's cousin), that in a few years became estranged from Carlos' Monarchy and his Minister Godoy.
