Sumario:The present study aims examines post-aspiration in Andalusian Spanish (AS) and compares it with the production of voiceless stops in English as an L2. AS and Castilian Spanish (CS) speakers completed a word insertion task and an interview in Spanish and English. Results showed that both groups produced longer VOT (aspiration) in English than in Spanish, and AS speakers showed significantly longer aspiration than CS speakers. Regarding the contexts, both groups produced voiceless stops with longer VOT values after /s/ in Spanish, but after vowels in English. The study highlights the importance of examining L1 dialectal traits in L2 speech learning.
