Descripción
Sumario:[EN] This project presents an interdisciplinary study of the air crash of 17 January 1939 in the mountains of León, where a German Heinkel 111 plane of the Condor Legion crashed on Pico Cerroso. The research combined archival analysis — consulting the General Military Archive of Ávila and the Historical Archive of the Air Force —, historical-documentary studies, interviews with local inhabitants and an archaeological intervention that included systematic prospecting, inventory and digitalisation of the remains. The approach made it possible to clarify the causes of the accident, identify the crew members and reconstruct the dynamics of the accident based on the dispersion of the remains. In addition,Ebre38 2025, 15. DOI: 10.1344/ebre38.2025.15.52364a plan was developed for the conservation and museumization of the commemorative stele erected by the Condor Legion, incorporating digital means for its preservation. This work underlines the importance of protecting the material heritage linked to local historical events and encouraging community participation in its conservation.
