Sumario:In 1583, Louis of Granada returned to the literary scene with the publication of a new book entitled Introduction of the Symbol of Faith, intended to be more than a mere literary work. The first of the four volumes aims at defending some Thomistic metaphysical principles, which are necessary for a sound theology. Luis of Granada, fully aware that he was living in an historical period marked by religious turmoil, adhered himself to the catechizing effort of the Counter-Reformation. The apologetics carried out by Louis of Granada do not consist in rebuking opposing arguments; the book –addressed to a wide range of readers– did not intend to create theological controversies but to show, using literary means, the truth and the beauty of the metaphysical principles of the Scholastic philosophy under threat since the outbreak of the Protestant Reformation.
