Parallel assembly lines are multiple lines located in such a way as to allow improvements in the system’s efficiency through the use of common resources. In recent years several research studies have been made on parallel assembly lines. In this paper, we survey the parallel assembly lines balancing problem (PALBP) studies. Moreover, a classification scheme is provided to ease understanding. Finally, the main gaps in the literature are described and future research directions are presented.Peer Reviewed20202020-12-0120212021-02-04journal articlehttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501AMhttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_ab4af688f83e57aainfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleapplication/pdfhttps://hdl.handle.net/2117/336902https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.cor.2020.105061reponame:UPCommons.
