Sumario:In this article there are analyzed 4 portraits of classical style preserved in the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya, with the aim to determine if them were made in ancient or modern epoch. By means of the iconographic and stylistic study of the first one, as well as the attentive observation of the type of Carrara's marble in which it is worked, we demonstrate that this female portrait is a scrupulous copy of the 19th century realized from a concrete Roman original. The third head was carved in marble of Paros Lichnites, a sign of his probable carrying out in the antiquity. This information is corroborated across the stylistic study of the form and the carving of the beard, both characteristics of the works of ends of the Antonine epoch and beginning of the Severan dinasty. The fourth head is interpreted thanks to the putting jointly of the results of his iconographic study, of the works of his restoration and of the analysis of his documentation. Thanks to that we know today that this head is an ancient replica of the portrait type of sovereign alone of Caracalla, corresponding to the work number 42 of the inventory that wrote J. M. Bover on the collection of the Cardinal Antoni Despuig. The second head is the portrait most difficult to define. The analyisis of his material (Luni-Carrara's marble) nothing reaches to his assignment to the antiquity or to the modern age. His stylistic and iconographic study determines that it is a fine work all'antico, that it departs from several Roman models of the Antonine and Severan periods. Nevertheless, these results must be arranged by other future analyses to advance in the determination of the accomplishment of this piece in ancient or modern epoch.
